FAQs
Are the bakery boxes recyclable or compostable?
Despite labels that say ‘compostable’ or boxes being printed with a recycling symbol, most boxes are lined with plastic to make them grease resistant and this makes them not able to be recycled or composted. The recycling stream also cannot accept material that is contaminated with food. A ‘dirty’ box can be composted but only if it has no plastic or poly lining.
